Active learning with Osmo

Growing up in the Bay Area I've always been surrounded by technology and all of the tech companies in our area, so it is inevitable that our kids' generation (aka Generation Alpha) will be exposed to technology even more early in their lives. They are destined to become digital natives that expect technology to play a central role in every part of their lives.

Forbes describes Generation Alpha to be “… born since the year 2010 (and until the year 2025), generation Alpha are the children of millennials. This new generation hasn’t even established credit, and yet they’re impacting the spending behaviors of their millennial parents.” This is definitely true, especially as it relates to technology and how much of it we gave our kids.

My wife and I were initially hesitant around how much screen time we should give our kids, and we struggled to find resources where our kids could use technology as a tool to educate them.  That wasn't until we learned about Osmo, and since then our entire approach to technology for our kids has changed.

We love Osmo's approach to technology and how it educates young kids through active learning. They really are transforming the way kids learn, preschoolers in particular. In this is especially important for parents and our toddlers in this new normal of virtual learning and the reliance of technology for our children to stay engaged in educational opportunities.

It's incredible to see how much our son, Gavin, is engaged with Osmo.  He's 3 years old and it's so awesome to see his eyes light up with curiosity as he interacts with the different games Osmo provides.

Specifically, Gavin loves Osmo’s new Little Genius Starter Kit + Early Math Adventure. This kit introduces 2 brand new early math games for kids 3 to 5 - Counting Down and Shape Builder! Gavin has been having a blast building the different geometric shapes with Osmo’s Sticks & Rings and loves counting with the interactive mini-games (and throwing his hands up in the air!).

Osmo really encourages active learning and gives Gavin the opportunity to problem-solve and think creatively, and these are skills that are so essential during the preschool years. As parents, we can observe and see first-hand how Gavin is learning through play, building fundamental math and reading skills, and gaining creative confidence. It’s really incredible to see and one of the benefits of being home with him during this pandemic.

What we love is that it's personalized for him, he can work on his own pace, and he's gaining confidence in himself.  Best of all he's being creative and fun. We love the impact Osmo is having on Gavin and has been such a huge resource for us as parents!
